Pablo and Maricela Chavez, originally from Mexico and serve as long-term global workers in Peru through Multiply. Their journeys of faith began in hardship—Maricela’s family was introduced to the Mennonite Brethren church through relief efforts after the 1991 freeze, while Pablo overcame struggles with substance abuse through the prayers of his mother and God’s grace. The couple met during Maricela’s short-term service in Mexico City, later marrying in 2003 and serving together in their local church, where Pablo became a pastor and Maricela worked as a counselor. Blessed with three sons and professional stability, they felt God calling them to surrender comfort for a greater purpose. After years of ministry, spiritual growth, and training, they are now preparing for missionary work in Peru, including training as spiritual directors to support pastors there. Aware of the challenges ahead, they remain committed to trusting God, believing he has a plan for Peru and that they are called to be part of it.
